I had an old 'Global' knife in the drawer with a nasty chip. I thought it was unrepairable.

But these guys saved the day with a fantastic repair job. Like new at a tenth of the price of a new knife.

I am a chef so my knifes usually cost quiet a bit of money so i was nervous about sending them away. I needed three very blunt Thiers-Issard stainless steel Sabatiers (one with a broken tip) repaired & sharpened. I posted them to Robin on Friday and got them back Tuesday morning! They are razor sharp and back in regular use.

I have just finished Robins training course and would like to say a bit about that. Having done it, I can now say that it was the best money spent in years. Robin will pass on years of sharpening experience, tips and advice. I want to say also, some of the information is not the sort you will find in books or forums, although there is that too, it's the sort of knowldge that can only be gained from experience. There was no marketing push behind any of this, Robin is an independant operator, unconnected to any manufacturers. If you are serious about sharpening, this is the course for you. I sent four knives for sharpening on Mon am.
I got an email on Wed am to say my order had arrived and was receiving attention.
I got another email late on Wed pm to say my order was complete and would posted back on Thurs am.
In the Sat post I got my now razor sharp knives back. Less than one week and I was kept informed all along the way.

Posted on Friday, Recieved email from Robin on Sunday, saying my scissors had been recieved on Saturday, had already been sharpened and would be dispatched first class post on Tuesday, got home from work on Wednesday and there they were!
Tried them out and they now have a Surgical edge, REALLY sharp.

Fantastic service! on Monday morning i noticed that my favourite knife that i've been using for about 12 years had lost its tip. it was looking a bit battered in general and i almost bought a new one, but then stumbled across your website. less than 72 hours after noticing the damage i had my knife back as good as new, cuts like a dream and actually has a better profile at the tip than it did originally. couldn't have asked for better.

Further to the last comments,I saw Robin working on some knives that arrived by post. He did the work there and then, to an extremely high standard, and repackaged and sent them back that same day. Also, two 'walk up' customers respectively brought in a pair of garden shears and a hardresser's scissors. Robin sorted them out there and then - as good as new at a very reasonable cost. A superb service.

I have just attended Robin's 2 day training. Absolutely superb all round. Loads of hands on practice - knives, scissors, chisels, shears, axes - you name it. But the best value is the wealth of information and experience that Robin is more than happy to pass to you - be ready to take lots of notes!

Just attended a two day course with Robin. Brief introduction and demonstration with hands on practice from the word go. If you want to start your own business or just get loads of implements sharpened this course is ideal. Without doubt the easiest and best Internet service I have used.
Knife returned in four days having had a large nick taken out the blade. On return it was impossible to see the repair and it was razor sharp to boot!

Excellent service. Sent all my kitchen knives parcel post on Friday, had an email on Saturday to say parcel arrived and would be despatched Monday, arrived Wednesday morning. All wrapped and RAZOR sharp. All those years spent trying to sharpen with a steel wasted!!

I bought a vegetable knife that had been used as a display and the blade was dull und the tip was broken off! I sent my knife to this repair and sharpening service, after 4 days my knife returned sharp and with a new tip just like brand new!

There's nothing about Robin's service that I wouldn't commend very highly, from answering queries to speed of service. My Mora hunting knife came back to me razor sharp and with a much better profile for touching up on a bench stone than when I bought it. It was exactly what I wanted.

Having booked the knife sharpening course in early March and paid my deposit, I was second guessing the expense right up till the day of the first class. Within the first two hours, I was completely convinced that I had made a sound investment.

After foolishly letting my Chroma knives get dull and blunt, a quick online search brought up www.sharpknives.co.uk.

I read the services and customer comments pages and sent an email.

I quickly received an message back answering all my questions in a positive manner.

All subsequent emails were answered quickly and positively, which put my mind at rest about sending my knives away to be sharpened.

I posted them on a Thursday, and received them back the following Monday.

I would have to say they were sharper than when I bought them.

Having been on the knife sharpening training at the end of January I thought I would leave my comments and thanks.
We are bombarded these days with get rich quick schemes, particularly on the internet, let me assure you this is not one. Robin gives you the confidence to sharpen knives scissors, etc and encourages you to practice, practice and practice some more.
He explains you have to go out and look for the business it won't just come to you, no different to any business really. However as I can testify the business is out there, I have just picked up an order for 70 knives!
Robin also is there after the training, I have rung him up on several occasions to ask his advice which he has been more than happy to give.

Amazing service!
After ringing dozens of knife sharpening companies, all of which said that they don't do thicknesser blades I stumbled upon SharpKnives.co.uk. I sent the blades away on a Saturday and they were back with me the following Wednesday, with reassuring emails sent inbetween. Can't recomment highly enough, blades are better than new!

I sent Robin my Nepali Khukri, despite having a curved blade and him expressing it may not be as well done as i would like, it came back very quickly, had a new bevel that took the nicks out of my blade and i was definitely satisfied. I gave my daughter and son-in-law a very good cooks knife which was miss used to chop goat bones!!(not by them). The blade had several large nicks and quite a ragged edge. As they live in Tanzania they didn't want the local pedal-powered knife grinder to sharpen the knife. So on my recent visit I brought the knife back for professional sharpening. I contacted Robin and was very impressed by the quality and speed in the return of the knife. I posted the knife 1st class on the Thursday and it was returned on the Saturday! Many thanks

I sent a carving knife and serrated bread knife to be sharpened. The service was fuss free, I was notified once my knives had been sharpened and despatched and I received them back with barely a meal's preparation missed!
Both knives now perform like I'd forgotten they could. Particularly impressive was my bread knife, although cleaning it has left our dish brush slightly worse for wear.
Overall I could not be happier with the service and I'm so glad that I decided to give this service a try rather than opting to replace my tired knives.
Will definatley use again and will recommend to others.

Excellent service and a stunning repair to a Kai Shun chef knife. The blade had a large nick and a bent tip after someone used it to slice through bone but came back looking like new with the blade polished to a mirror finish.

Posted for repair on a Monday, received confirmation receipt and repair completed notification on Tuesday and arrived back Thursday! Fantastic personal service.

I have been searching for a gadget to sharpen my knives properly - I have bought a dozen different things to do it, however I have now found the perfect thing to sharpen my knives. His name is Robin.

Knives of all shapes and sizes sent off and came back by return beautifully sharp. They don't LOOK much different and they don't FEEL all that much sharper, but as soon as you use them you find they are MILES better.

Having struggled with blunt knives for ages I decided to try and get them sharpened. As some are 35 years old and were my knives at catering college they hold real sentimental value to me. I found The Knife Sharpening Service on the web and read the reviews. The reviews were very enthusiatic and complimentary and included domestic cooks and professional chefs. If professional chefs are willing to send their knives to Robin then I thought the service must be great and so rang Robin to discuss. Robin was very, very helpful and we agread a price for my 25 knives. I sent them to him early on a Thursday morning and received them back on the saturday. The knives are beautifully sharpened and the price was very reasonable. I liked the way that Robin kept me updated as to when he recieved the knives and when he had finished the job and sent them back. A great service, at a great price and the speed of service was amazing. I will definitely be using Robin and The Knife Sharpening Service again in the future and would recommend the service to anyone.

At first I was wary sending my knives off to get sharpened by a third party. But after seeing the results I would recommend you to any michelin starred chef, also the price (don't charge me extra but for the record you're too cheap) It's an excellent edge.

I'm sure you know all this, but you are an untapped resource. More chefs should be using you, they're obviously nervous about getting their knives badly ground!

Your other major hurdle is (which I've only just realised, but I'm sure you realised a long time ago) is chefs pride! And admitting that someone else other than them, can get a cleaner and straighter edge than they can?

I'm very impressed, the boys will send their knives soon I'm sure. I've got some more I need to send as well

Excellent speedy replies to my emails and also an amazingly fast turnaround on the knives I sent for sharpening. Having gently touched the edges, I think they are sharper now than the day I acquired them.

Thanks too for providing such an honest service, doing just what was necessary and no more and refunding the overpayment I made. Very refreshing in this day and age.

I suspect the best way for me to keep my knives in good condition is to send them to you every couple of months or so - you will be hearing from me again.

I found the service provided by the Knife Sharpening Service was excellent and Robin exceeded my expectations, a real professional!

I presented Robin with my Global Knives after 3 years of my own sharpening on a Global wet stone. The result was a big bow in the cutting surface, which he honed back to perfection as well as 2 sets of dress making scissors. I had 6 Global knives sharpened and the service was incredible. My knives were returned as good as new. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this service to anyone who needs knives sharpening. I was looking to buy a replacement set knives and whetstone when I stumbled upon Robins' web site. I called Robin on the Tuesday and popped round the next day for a sharpen- while-you-wait service. My knives are now as good as new at a fraction of the cost of a replacement set - Perfect!

Appointment made for early evening; arrived at Robin's workshop with 20 kitchen knives of various sizes, shapes and age. An hour and a quarter later I left with sharp and once-more useful utensils, even those of many years standing. An efficient, friendly and economic service which I wholeheartedly endorse.

Dropped both my hunting knives in to Robin at 3pm on Monday, Robin called me that evening to say he had sharpened both knives. Collected them the next day and must say what a fantastic finish on both. Robin understood my request and both knoves are now up to the task. The scratches were even removed at no additional cost. Will definitely use the service again.

I just wanted to give my thanks to Robin, who sharpened my hairdressing scissors a few weeks ago now.
They were really blunt.
Now they are just like new.... even sharper than when first brought and let me tell you, saved me a fourtune as new scissors are not cheap!

I sent off a number of hunting knives recently and got them back in well under a week and to say they're sharp is an understatement!!

I'm the idiot whose Global knife is highlighted third on the photos page with the one in 'very poor' condition after I hacked at a bone with the knife. I had written it off as a lost cause but came across Robin's website and saw what was possible, sent off my complete set of knives and just got them back, three days later. I'm quite honestly amazed that this sort of service still exists, at such a reasonable price and at the results. Fantastic, keep up the good work!

sent robin a 12 inch cold steel bowie,it took him an hour to sharpen,and when it returned it was so sharp i could shave hairs off my arms.robin is fantastic and any problems you have with your knives send them to the knife god..lol thanks again robin first class service

What excellent service! I sent my kitchen knives to Robin and he sharpened them brilliantly and returned them within 24 hours. Much better than my local hardware store, which takes 2 weeks to sharpen knives! I will definitely use Robin again and recommend him to others.

Whilst kitchen knives are not the ‘tools of our trade’ for my Wife and I, over the years we have invested in a set of very expensive Shun Kaji blades so as you can imagine, the thought of someone putting them on a ‘grindstone’ was quite off putting. Needs must though and the service, expertise, care and professionalism delivered by Robin meant all our fears were non-founded!

I was able to take the knives to Robin’s workshop and watched as he carefully restored each knife to razor (and I do mean razor!) sharpness, polishing and finally degreasing each with equal care.

If anyone has any concerns about the care, attention or value for money that Robin offers forget it! We will definitely be a long term customer and can not recommend the service enough.

Robin responded for my request for a quick service with ease and politeness.

I was with him as he worked (in ever growing cold conditions) and he kept me fully informed of what he was doing with each knife, and why, throughout the whole process. His communication skills are to be admired.

I had 5 knives sharpened this afternoon and have already enjoyed the experience of using some of them.

I will certainly use him again and have no hesitation in recommending him.

All I can do is thank him for the very good service I have received.

Robin provides the best service your professional knives can have.
It is the second time I had my knives serviced in one year and once again they are sharper than ever. Twice I have been received with very short notice and have been able to watch him working, very interesting.
The level of service has been increased since my first visit with the three recently added polishing/ finishing wheels giving the knives an extra absolute finish and shine (sorry if I don't use the proper technical words!).
Robin's great customer care, his passion for sharpening, drive for perfection and very competitive pricing are all reasons why he provides the best service a blade would dream of! There isn't anyone in my area to provide such a level of service and I would definitely and happily do the 30 miles again when needed.
I highly recommend The Knife Sharpening Service to any chef who really cares about his knives (you should see what he can do with a blunt Global knife ! ) and to any professional or passionate DIY with a blade.
